The VC-backed teachers’ panel got majority in Jahangirnagar University Teachers’ Association (JUTA) election that was held yesterday
They bagged 9 posts out of 15 posts, including president, vice president and treasurer.
Prof AA Mamun was elected as the president from the VC-backed panel under the banner of ‘Bangabandhu Shikshak Parishad’.
On the other hand, Prof Mohammad Amzad Hossain was elected as secretary from the anti-VC panel ‘Shammilita Shikshak Samaj’.
Chief Election Commissioner Prof Dr Abul Kalam announced the result after counting votes in the evening. He expressed satisfaction about the election as both factions of teachers cast their vote peacefully.
Among the VC-backed teachers, Professor Syed Hafizur Rahman was elected as Vice-President while anti-VC backed teacher Associate Professor Borhan Uddin was elected as Joint Secretary.
Besides, Professor Motahar Hossain was elected as the treasurer from the VC panel and other 6 member posts out of 10 hauled VC backed
teachers.
