Theatre troupe Tarua will stage the 12th show of its maiden theatrical production titled ‘Let Me Out’ today at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the capital’s Segun Bagicha area.
Based on a true event that took place almost a hundred years ago in Los Angeles, USA, the play is directed by Bakar Bakul.
Inspired from several true crime, biography and factual texts regarding police misconduct, political corruption and state brutalities in the USA, Runa Kanchan has written the play.
In the play, a single mother named Christine Collins lost her nine-year-old son, Walter. She gives allegation against the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) for its incompetence, corruption and the extrajudicial punishment meted out by its notorious ‘Gun Squad’.
The cast of the play includes Runa Kanchon, Sohel Mandol, Ishtiak Hossain, Javed Jimi, and Tahsin Ahmed, among others.
