ICU, CCU of Feni Hospital run short of manpower

Feni hospital is the first government hospital to add Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Coronary Care Unit (CCU) in greater Noakhali district. Last year on January Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved the setup of the units at Feni 250 General hospital. At the same time, Tk 11 crore was allocated for the project. However one year has passed by but the ICU and CCU are not still put to use due to lack of manpower.

According to hospital sources, Feni, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram districts have convenient communication among them. If the units are launched at the hospital, the patients would not have to come to the capital for emergency treatment.

When this reporter contacted Dr. Tabarak Ullah chowdhury, Divisional head (Technical ) of National Heart Foundation Hospital in Feni, he said: “Two units were set up at Feni hospital one year and five month ago, but due to lack of manpower we could not put the units in use.

Dr. Bidhan Chandra Sengupta, superintend of the hospital told the Independent that a case is underway in the High court for appointment of 600 people at the hospital.
