A labour court here yesterday granted bail to Grameen Communications Chairman and Nobel laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus in a case lodged over the violation of 10 rules of the Labour Act. Dhaka 3rd Labour Court Judge Rahibul Islam passed the order as Dr Yunus surrendered before the court and pleaded for the bail. After hearing the plea, the court granted him bail on Taka 5,000 bond. The court on January 13 summoned four – Grameen Communications Chairman Dr Yunus, its managing director Naznin Sultana, director A Hai Khan and deputy general manager Gouri Shankar. Inspector (general) Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) Torikul Islam filed the case against the four on January 5. According to the case documents, DIFE during a visit to Grameen Communications on October 10, 2019, witnessed that the company violated 10 rules of the labour act.
