A three-day 15th Asian Conference on Diarrhoeal Disease and Nutrition (ASCODD) will begin at a hotel in the capital on Tuesday, says a press release. This year’s theme is ‘Typhoid, cholera, other enteric diseases and their relationship to nutritional disorders: Persisting challenges for low and middle-income countries in an era of humanitarian crisis.’ Over 450 researchers, health care professionals, vaccinologists, nutrition experts, policymakers from 18 countries present. The event is being organised by icddr,b and supported by the Government of Bangladesh, the World Health Organisation, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This was announced at a ‘Meet the Press’ event held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital yesterday. Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) Zahid Maleque MP will inaugurate the conference as chief guest.
