Bangladesh emerged champion of Group C of the ongoing ICC Under-19 World Cup in South Africa. Bangladesh faced Pakistan in the final group match which washed away due to rain last night. Pakistan opted to bowl first after won the toss. Bangladesh had scored 106 for nine wickets in 25 overs before the rain came in and spoiled the day. The teen Tigers suffered a heavy batting collapse in this game.
Despite the poor batting display, they managed to share points with Pakistan as the match produced no result. Tanzid Hasan (34), Shahadat Hossain (16) and Avishek Das (20) were the only three batsmen to have managed double-digit scores. Mohammad Amir Khan bagged four wickets conceding 30 runs in six overs while Abbas Afridi took three for 26 in six overs.
Both Bangladesh and Pakistan won their first two games of the group. However, Bangladesh emerged as the group champions thanks to better run rate.
The junior Tigers will play their Super League Quarter-final on January 30. The opponent of that match is yet to be confirmed. On the other hand, Pakistan will play their Super League Quarter-final against Afghanistan on January 31.
