A total of 5,95,668 children will be provided vitamin A plus capsule during the second phase of National Vitamin A Plus Campaign in Gazipur on January 25.
It was disclosed at an orientation and planning programme organised by Gazipur civil surgeon office yesterday. Civil surgeon Dr Khairuzzaman presided over the programme while deputy commissioner of Gazipur SM Tarikul Islam was present as chief guest. Superintendent of Gazipur police Shamsunnahar, president of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), Gazipur district unit Dr Amir Hossain Rahat; deputy project manager of Pusti Seba Dhaka Dr Tuhin; superintendent of District EPI Amzad Hossain, addressed the programme, among others. It is known that total 7, 335 children aged 6 to 11 months and total 5, 25, 333 children aged 12 to 59 months eligible for vitamin A capsule have been targeted for the campaign in the 27 wards of Gazipur City Corporation area, three municipalities and five upazilas in the district.
The authority has already selected 1, 429 centres to provide vitamin A capsule.
