Fate of Tigers’ tour of Pakistan likely to be decided today

Bangladesh team’s tour of Pakistan for the ensuing bilateral series will take the center stage of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) crucial meeting today. The meeting will be held at the BCB-Management Office of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur at 12 noon.

Apart from the Tigers’ Pakistan tour, the new central contract of the players, home series against Zimbabwe, fixation of players and schedule of the two T20 internationals hosted by BCB to mark Bangabandhu centenary birth anniversary and appointment of the fast-bowling coach for the national team will also be discussed in the meeting.

Jalal Younus, BCB director and its media & publication committee chairman, stated this to media at the SBNCS in Mirpur yesterday. “We have so many important issues on our agenda to be discussed in the meeting. There are some regular agenda and issues which are also put forward for approval,” said Jalal Younus.

“We will mainly discuss about Pakistan series in the meeting. Moreover, we will hold discussion on new central contract of the national team players. You know the contract has been finished in December. We’re yet to see the new central contract of the players who are there,” Jalal told media.

Bangladesh are scheduled to tour in Sri Lanka and Ireland in the current year. Besides, Zimbabwe are expected to visit her in Bangladesh in February. Jalal said planning will be done regarding the calendar of the future games beside the players’ central contract.

“We have programmes under the new FTPs in 2020. We will go to visit in Australia and they will come here. Zimbabwe will come in February. We have tours in Sri Lanka and Ireland. We will discuss all about the issues,” the BCB director said.

“You all know that we will talk about Sheikh Hasina International Cricket Stadium. A total of 25 companies showed their keen interests to date,” he informed. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is going to host a T20 international series between Asia XI and World XI to celebrate Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s centenary birth anniversary in March. The matches will be played in between match 18-22. But who will play the matches and on which dates the matches will be held which are yet to confirm. The list of the local and overseas players will be confirmed in the meeting.

“We’ll hold discussion on the issue of the Asia XI and World XI in our meeting. It’ll be held in the mentioned time frame. We’ll fix the specific dates and players’ names in the meeting. As those are yet to finalise, we need some more time for it,” he added.
