Blood donation programme held at JU

SAVAR: A voluntary blood donation and free diagnosis programme was held at Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus yesterday. JU Student Welfare and Counseling Center (SWCC) and Bangladesh Red Crescent Society organised the programme while Professor Abul Khair inaugurated the function as chief guest. Director of SWCC Rasheda Akhter presided over the function. JU Registrar, Abu Bakr Siddique, conducted the programme. Provost of Moulana Bhashani Hall Hafizur Rahman, and Assistant Professor of Public Administration Department, Jebunnessa, and others donated blood.

Programming contest held at NSU

The final round of ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest 2015 Dhaka Regional site concluded on North South University (NSU) campus on Saturday, says a press release.
North South University (NSU) hosted the event for the 12th time. A total of 122 teams from different universities across the country participated in the contest.
The team from Jahangirnagar University (JU) namely ‘JU_O (N^3)’ became champion of this competition. The team from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) namely ‘SUST_DownToTheWire’ and North South University namely ‘NSU BugLovers’ grabbed the 1st and 2nd runner up respectively.
The first two teams from the competition standing from the Dhaka Regional site will qualify for the World Final of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest which will be held at Prince of Songkla University, Phuket, Thailand from May 15 to 20.
Ahsan Habib Mansur, director, Policy Research Institute, Dhaka and Former Division Chief, Middle East and Central Asia Department, IMF, was the chief guest in the closing ceremony and handed over prizes among the winners.
Gour Gobinda Goswami, vice chancellor (in-charge) of NSU chaired the ceremony. Abul L Haque, director, ACM-ICPC Dhaka Site 2015 and Professor of NSU, delivered the welcome address.  Earlier, Dr Jamilur Reza Choudhury, former advisor to caretaker government, and Vice Chancellor of University of Asia Pacific, was the chief guest in the inaugural ceremony on Friday.

Career aid programme held at JnU

A day-ong career aid programme titled 'Career Adda' was held on Jagannath University (JnU) on the premise of Liberation War sculpture on Saturday.
Professor Mizanur Rahman, vice-chancellor of JnU, addressed the programme as a chief guest while Susanto Pal, deputy commissioner, customs, also was chief speaker.
Susanto Pal came out to the stage with a inspirational speeches what enchanted the BCS aspiring students mostly. Some of 34th BCS cadets, who complete their study from JnU also addressed the programme with their motivational speeches.

DIU holds freshers’ reception

The freshers’ reception  for the newly enrolled undergraduate students of Fall-2015 semester of Daffodil International University (DIU) was held  at DIU auditorium on Satrurday, says a press release.
Md Sabur Khan, chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University (DIU) was the chief guest at the orientation programme. Vice Chancellor of the university Yousuf M Isalm presided over the orientation programme. The orientation program was also addressed by Md Golam Rahaman, pro-vice chancellor, Hamidul Haque Khan, treasurer, SM Mahbub Ul Haque Majukder, dean, Faculty of Science and Information Technology, Rafiqul Islam, dean Faculty of Business and Economics, M Shamsul Alan, dean, Faculty of Engineering, AKM Fazlul Hoque, registrar.    
The day long programme included bus rally, project exhibition, departmental display, games & sports, fun events & raffle draw, tree plantation, picnic and gala cultural programme.
