A young housewife, who suffered burns as her husband allegedly threw acid on her in Ashulia on the outskirt of the capital, succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) early yesterday. The victim was identified as Majeda Khatun, 22, wife of CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver Sohag, hailing from Baipal Guril Bazar of Savar. According to Inspector Mozammel Haque, in-charge of DMCH police camp, Majeda succumbed to her burn injuries at the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of DMCH around 4am.  Earlier on October 25, Sohag had allegedly thrown acid on Majeda around 3am when she was sleeping at their rented Baipail residence in Ashulia and went into hiding soon after the incident.  She was rushed to the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of the DMCH with burn injuries to 26 percent of her body. A case was filed in this connection.
