Students demand speedy trial of killer

Protesting the killing of schoolgirl Nadira and demanding speedy trial of the killer, fellow students brought a procession in the district town yesterday morning.
Nadira Akhtar, 10,  a  student of class-III at Mymensingh Zila Parishad High School, was brutally killed by her cousin on Thursday.
The students chanted slogans against the killer and demanded his capital punishment through speedy trial like the one carried out for Rajon and Rakib. Protesting the killing, the school authorities took two-day agitation programmes from yesterday.
Meanwhile, detectives on Thursday night arrested the alleged killer Shahjahan Habib Munna, 22, an inhabitant of Trishal upazila and a private car driver of Anwarul Abedin Tuhin, a lawmaker from Nandail (Mymensingh-9) constituency, hours after she was found dead with the throat slit in Mymensingh town.
The arrestee was produced before a Mymensingh court yesterday afternoon and he was sent to jail, said Imarat Hossain  Gazi, officer-in-charge of Detective Branch (DB) of Police, Mymensingh.
Munna admitted that angered by her refusal to proposal he killed his cousin Nadira in the car he used to drive and later dumped the body in a paddy field at town’s Bade Kolpa.
The autopsy of the body that bore several injury marks in the body was conducted yesterday, Kamrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police said.
