Day-long Nabanno Utshob at Charukala today

Jatiya Nabanno Utsab Udjapan Parishad will celebrate the Nabanno Utshob (Bengali traditional crop harvest celebration) on the first day of the Bangla month of Agrahayan that begins today. The day-long cultural programme, highlighting the spirit of the traditional festivity on the day, will be held at the premises of the Fine Arts Faculty, widely known as Charukala, Dhaka University. Dhaka University Professor Emeritus Sirajul Islam Choudhury  will inaugurate the event which will begin very early in the morning.  The programme will feature traditional songs, dances, recitations, performance by ethnic minority groups, Dhamail, processions and much more. The most attractive face for the Nabanno Utsab is pitha (a kind of cake made by rice flour) and the event will offer the visitors a variety of delicious pithas, which will be displayed in different stalls.
