Drizzle, cold wave disrupt regular
life in Barishal

Drizzle along with cold wave from early Friday to Saturday morning have disrupted normal life in southern six districts of Barishal division. Local weather office recorded 49mm rain and lowest temperature was 13 degree Celsius in last 24 hours without any sunlight, said Pronab Kumar, senior observer of Barishal weather office. Due to inclement weather, a few numbers of people were seen on city roads, water and road transport stations, kitchen markets and work places.

The day-labourers and who work on a daily basis, slum dwellers are the worst sufferers as they have no alternative way to earn money for maintaining their family and so some of them forced to come out of home, but failed to earn satisfactory income.  Some of rickshaw pullers have seen on the road carrying few passengers in the city area. Shopkeepers in kitchen markets and other places of the city passed idle time due to lack of customers. Children and elderly people are suffering due to cold wave with rain.

Dr Md. Rahim, Barishal divisional health director, said average 1,700 children were admitted to the hospitals with cold-related diseases in 42 upazila  health complexes in the districts in last seven days.
