The final of the TVS Federation Cup Football will take place today between the top favourites Bashundhara Kings and underdog Rahmatganj MFS at the Bangabandhu National Stadium at 4 pm.
Bangla TV will telecast live the match.
Bashundhara Kings, who struggled much to make their final berth during the group stage and the quarterfinal phase, just outplayed Police FC in the semifinal with a 3-0 victory.
But Rahmatganj moved into their historic final when they eliminated two traditional giants of the country Abahani Limited and Mohammedan Sporting Club in the successive two matches, in the quarterfinal and semifinal respectively.
They are highly inspired with defeating the giants on the way to make their room in the final but their head coach Golam Jilani does not think so as he said that they have nothing to lose but to gain something and his boys will play without any pressure they played the previous matches.
“We are going to play against one the strongest sides of the country, so our target might as far as possible to fight with them. In fact that we will face a big side, who are far ahead of us in all respects.”
“But it does not mean we will play to concede defeat, I told the boys to play their own game taking no pressure. It would be great if we would be the winner,” said Jilani.
Bashundhara Kings had to work hard up to their qualifying in the semifinal when suffered a 2-0 defeat to Chittagong Abahan Limited in the group stage and had to wait up to tie-breaker in the quarterfinal against Muktijoddha to move into the semifinal.
Oscar Bruzon, head coach of Bashundhara, said that though his team is favourites but it will not easy task for them to beat Rahmatganj, as he mentioned the performance of Rahmatganj in the previous matches.
“I think it will not easy to beat Rahmatganj, they are no more weak side, they qualified in the final after defeating some strong teams.”
“But if the boys can play their usual game then I can hope that we will be the winner,” said the Spanish coach.
