The Election Commission has found the nomination paper of only Saira Syed, wife of former Social Welfare Minister Syed Mohsin Ali, valid among all other aspirants in the by-polls for Moulvibazar-3 constituency. Announcing Saira’s nomination valid, returning officer SM Ejaharul Haque scrapped the nominations of Jatiya Party aspirant Syed Nurul Haque, Bangladesh Nationalist Front (BNF) aspirant Mohammad Ashraf Hossain, independent aspirants M Khurshid and Sohel Ahmed after verification. Ejaharul Haque said Jatiya Party candidate Syed Nurul Haque did not submit any certification by his party central command, the signatures of introducer and supporter of the BNF candidate were not correct, and the information provided by the independent aspirants regarding their supporters was not found factual after assessment at the field level.
