The country’s biggest international half marathon — “Novo Nordisk Dhaka Half Marathon 2015” organised by Sports International was held on Friday in the capital.
The race was organised on the eve of World Diabetes Day 2015 to create awareness on healthy lifestyle to control diabetes.
This year about 5,000 runners participated in 21.1km marathon that took three hours to complete. Runners from Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia participated in the programme. Award was given in 12 categories for male and female. The first winner won $1,500, the second winner $1,000 and the third winner $700.
The race started in front of Gulshan Shooting Club and concluded at Manik Mia Avenue, stated by Abedur Rahman Shimu, Chairman, Sports International.
The route was featured Jatiyo Sangsad Bhaban, Novo Theatre, Dhaka Army Museum and Hatirjheel Development Project. Runners from Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia participated in the programme.
