The number of people receiving legal aid in the country is on the rise, reports BSS. The number of litigations resolved in 2014 through legal aid stood at 1323, while the number of people receiving legal advice stood at 1241 in Dhaka division alone. A total of 986 cases were also settled during this period. This was three times higher than the previous year. Besides, 98 cases were settled out-of-court. This year the number of such cases was even higher. According to law ministry sources, over 60,000 people have benefited from the legal aid services. Legal aid is a service provided by lawyers at government expense in all courts of the country.
