DU VC for inter-religious cultural coordination
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique has called for developing inter-religious cultural coordination. ‘Developing inter-religious cultural coordination is very important at the present time”, he said at a discussion at DU Teachers-Students Centre on the campus on Thursday. Jointly organised by DU Department of World Religion and Culture and Center for Inter-religious and Inter-cultural Dialogue (CIID), the meeting was attended by Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) Chairman Iqram Ahmed as the chief guest and DU Arts Faculty Dean Akhtaruzzaman as special guest. Department of World Religion and Culture Chairman Dr Father Tapan De Rozario presided over the discussion.
Arefin Siddique said non-communalism is the main feature of Bengali culture and the strength of the nation lies in this. "Upholding this strength, we will have to march forward with the spirit of the Liberation War," he added. The DU vice-chancellor condemned killing people in the name of religion and said no religion supports killings and conflicts. The followers of every religion are enjoying equal rights in Bangladesh, he said.
