Celebrating the completion of 50-year music career of iconic folk singer Farida Parveen, a felicitation programme and solo musical show of the singer will be held today at the auditorium of National Music and Dance Centre of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital.
Organised by Lalon Research and Culture Foundation, the event will be attended by veteran theatre and cultural personality Asaduzzaman Noor as the chief guest. Presided over by former Indian foreign secretary and former ambassador Professor Muchkund Dubey, noted music director Azad Rahman and veteran researcher-educationist Dr Anwarul Karim will be present as special guests at the programme.
Born on 31 December in 1954, Parveen began her music career with Nazrul Sangeet. A living legend of the country’s music world, Parveen is also referred as ‘the Queen of Lalon song’. She was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 1987 while she received the Bangladesh National Film Award in the category of Best Female Playback Singer for the film ‘Andho Prem’ (1993) in 1993.
