Worker found slaughtered

Police recovered the throat-slit body of a construction worker from Lauta union in Beanibazar upazila on Saturday evening.

The deceased was identified as Nazrul Islam, 45, son of Khalil Mia of Nandirfal village in the upazila.

Locals said they spotted the body under a palm tree in between Tikarpara and Nandirfal around 7pm and informed police.

Later, police recovered the body and sent it to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Mobile court punishes 25 for taking drug in C'nawabganj

A mobile court in Chapainawabganj awarded different jail terms and fined to 25 drug addicted persons during daylong anti-drug drives in Chapainawabganj sadar upazila on Saturday.

The mobile court was conducted by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) jointly led by the company commander of the Chapainawabganj camp of RAB-5 Squadron Leader Mohammad Sayeed Abdullah Al-Murad, executive magistrates Md. Saiful Islam, Md. Robin Mia, Md. Ashraful Islam and Khadiza Begum, RAB sources said.

Biker killed in road crash

UNB, Bagerhat

A motorcyclist was killed and two others were injured in a road accident at Kachabazar in the district town on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Quamrul Islam, 35.

Pannu Mia, officer-in-charge of Bagerhat Model Police Station, a motorcycle crashed into a stationary stuck around 11:30pm while vegetables were being unloaded from it, leaving three bikers injured. On information, firefighters rescued them and took them to Sadar Hospital where doctors declared Quamrul dead.
