Two fires broke out at a slum at Kalshi and a plastic factory in Hazaribagh of the capital early Friday. Ershad Hossain, duty officer at the Fire Service Central Control Room, said the fire originated at ‘Hirur Maar Slum’ on Kalshi Road around 12:50am.
On information, 11 firefighting units rushed in to douse the blaze in Kalshi and four units were working to douse the fire at Hazaribagh.
The reason behind the fire could not be known yet. In 2017 another fire broke out in the same slum.
Earlier, 19 people died on December 11 in Keraniganj plastic factory and Chawkbazar fire on February 21 killed 81 people. In July 2017 Multifabs Ltd fire killed 13 people in Gazipur, Tampaco Foils fire killed 24 in 2016, 111 people were burnt to death in Tazreen Fashion fire in November 2012 and in Nimtoli fire 120 people were charred in 2010.
