‘Fazlul Haque Memorial Award 2019’ will be conferred this evening at a function at The Westin Hotel in the capital. This year, filmmaker Kohinur Akter Suchanda and cine journalist Rafi Hossain are going to receive the award for their contributions to filmmaking and cine journalism respectively. National Professor Dr Anisuzzaman will be present as the chief guest at the award ceremony. Each of the recipients of ‘Fazlul Haque Memorial Award 2019’ will receive a crest, a certificate and an amount of Taka 25000.  Fazlul Haque (1930–1990) was the pioneer of cine-journalism in Bangladesh, and was the editor and publisher of the first cinema-based Bangladeshi newspaper ‘Cinema’. He directed the county’s first children’s film titled ‘President’.
