Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three people from Chapainawabganj municipal area in separate drives yesterday for their suspected links to the killing of Japanese national Hoshi Kunio. The RAB, in their drive between 1am to 3am, also seized two firearms, bullets, and a sharp weapon from the arrestees’ possession. The arrestees were identified as Razib Hossain alias Meril Sumon, 25, of Shalbon Shahipara, Nawshad Hossain alias Rubel alias Kala Rubel, 27, and Kajal Chandra Barman alias Vorsa Kajal, 25, of Shalbon Mistripara Shialur More from Rangpur district. A patrol team of Chapainawabganj RAB camp detained a person for suspicious movement around 1:10am early yesterday from Satnoil Uttarpara under Chapainawabganj municipality. After detention, the detainee was identified as Razib Hossain alias Meril Sumon. The law enforcers also seized a loaded pistol from his possession. Later, following the confessional statement of Razib, the elite force conducted a raid in Bidirpur area and arrested Rubel and Kajal along with one revolver and a sharp weapon. During preliminary interrogation, the three admitted their involvement in Japanese national Hoshi Kunio killing. All the arrestees are listed criminals and wanted in several cases, according to the RAB. The arrestees were later handed over to Chapainawabganj police. Hoshi Kunio, 65, was shot to death by unknown assailants near his farmhouse at Kachu Alutary in Kaunia upazila on October 3.
