Forty eight people were held by law enforcers in separate drives in Jhenidah and Satkhira.
In Jhenidah, police arrested seven activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chattra Shibir in separate drives in four upazilas early yesterday over suspicion of subversive activities.
In Satkhira, a ‘joint force’ of police, Rapid Action Battalion and Border Guard Bangladesh arrested 41 people, including one BNP man and 26 Jamaat-Shibir activists during the period from Wednesday night to yesterday morning.
Police said they were arrested on sabotage charges.
Among the arrestees, 11 are from sadar, six from Kalaroa, four from Tala, six from Kaliganj, two from Ashashuni, three from Debhata, four from Patkelghata and two from Shyamnagar upazilas.
