Confce on literature, history, culture held at RU

A two-day international conference on Literature, History and Culture organised by Arts Faculty was held on Rajshahi University (RU) campus where more than four hundred teachers, students, academicians, development activists and researchers took part from seven countries.  RU Vice-chancellor Prof M Abdus Sobhan inaugurated the programme around 9.30 am on Friday at university Senate Building as chief guest while Pro vice-chancellor Prof Ananda Kumar Saha, Pro vice-chancellor Prof Dr Chawdhury Md Zakaria were present as special guests. Dr Sayed Hasan Sihat, cultural councillor of Iran’s High Commissioner of Dhaka, took part in the programme as honourable guest while dean of Arts Faculty Prof Fazlul Hoque presided over the programme. A total of 123 research papers in 21 sessions on literature, history and culture have been presented on the programme. Meanwhile, Fine Arts Faculty arranged a two-day long programme marking its 40th founding anniversary at their faculty building.  They also brought out colourful rally on the campus while eminent note writer Prof Dr Hasan Azizul Hoque inaugurated the programme as chief guest. Pro vice-chancellor Prof Dr Ananda Kumar Saha, Pro vice-chancellor Prof Dr Chawdhury Md Zakaria, its founding teacher Torun Gush and SM Kayum were present as special guests.  Dean of fine Arts Faculty Prof Dr SiddarthoTalikder presided over the programme while member secretary of the arrangement committee Prof Dr Moynul Islam Poul conducted it.

Workshop on investigative reporting held

A day-long workshop titled ‘Investigative Report and Safety of Journalists’ organised by RU Press Club was held recently on the campus. RU public relation administrator Prof Provash Kumar Karmakar was present as chief guest while chief news editor of Ekattor Television was present as trainer on the programme. Assistant Proctor Shibly Islam, Teacher of Tourism and Hospitality Mangemnet department Tanjil Bhuyan and  Ekattor Telivision district correspondent Rashedul Hoque Roshu, among others, were present at the programme.  Certificates were distributed among the participants at the closing session of the programme.
