Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Rashed Khan Menon yesterday said that holding a dialogue with the allies of the militants would be meaningless, reports BSS from Satkhira. “BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has repeatedly been urging for national unity. But, national unity and militant activities can’t go together,” he said turning down the dialogue proposal of BNP. “Leave the path of militant activities first and clear your stance on war crimes trial, capital punishment handed down to SQ Chowdhury-Mujahid and your (Begum Zia) alliance with Jamaat, then come up with proposal on dialogue,” Rashed Khan Menon said while speaking as chief guest at the national council of Bangladesh Khet Majur Union (KMU) at Shaheed Razzak Park here in the town. “Unity can’t be forged and dialogue can’t be held putting the burden of corpses on our shoulders. You are responsible for killing of bloggers-writers one after another and you are also creating the path of violence branding some persons as non-believers. It can’t be taken into acceptance that you will give death threats on one hand and call upon for holding dialogue on the other,” the Workers Party president said. KMU central president Bimal Biswas presided over the council, also addressed, among others, by its central leaders Prof Ishaque Sharif, Mustafa Lutfullah, MP, Prof Nazrul Haque Nilu and Anwar Hossain, Jatiya Sramik Federation president Hafizur Rahman Bhuiyan, Prof Yasin Ali, MP, and Nari Mukti Sangsad general secretary Saleha Sultana.
