Dzhalilov struck four goals as, Bangladesh suffered another humiliating defeat in the World Cup qualifying round when they went down to Tajikistan by 5-0 yesterday in their away match at the Central Stadium of Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
Bangladesh, who were in must win position in the match to confirm a place to play in the Asian Cup qualifying round, suffered the huge defeat as they could hardly make two or three attempts at the home team’s post. In fact most of the Bangladesh players were not used to play under such a chilly condition which was clearly indicated from their movement Apart from Dzhalilov, Nazarov added one to demolish the opponents’ high hopes.
But Tajikistan controlled the match within a few minutes after the kick-off and also opened spaces with Dzhalilov blasting on 15th minute being left free (1-0).
Abdul Baten Komol who usually played as left wing, was given the charge as left back, failed to clear a ball and Dzhalilov snatched a ball before beating Sohel with a close range effort (2-0).
Despite being under pressure, Bangladesh could score a goal when they fabricated their attack down the left side Mamunul have a good cross from overlapping Komol but the captain failed to mark the target as his left footer missed the cross piece on 34th.
Tajikistan with a 2-0 lead started the second half with same fashion and further increased the tally inside six minutes after the break while Nasirul Islam fouled a forward inside the area and Nazarov converted the spot kick (3-0).
Tajikistan, who had clear dominance in possession was rewarded the fourth goal while Dzhalilov, who crafted the opening goal slammed a hattrick on 59th minute.
This time also defenders failed to clear the ball and an unmarked Dzhalilov closely pushed the ball into net (4-0). Dzhalilov scored the fifth on 72nd minute utilsing a lapse committed by Bangladesh defenders (5-0).
