Special Task Force of Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC) yesterday in a drive in Fatullah of  Narayanganj detected 10.54 lakh units electricity pilfering and fined Faria Fashion Tk 2.5 crore. The meter of the factory showed only 70,000 units per month, though the monthly expenditure of electricity in the factory should have been 1.70 lakh units. It was seen that using remote control technology, meter reading was stopped in the factory which had been directed by Flaxen Group. DPDC task force Chief Munir Chowdhury said the drives have been strengthened with a view to making DPDC a financially strong institution. Tk 1.25 crore has already been realised from the owner of the factory as the first installment yesterday, he said.
