Indian team visits BARI
in Gazipur

A four-member high-level delegation of Indian part of the India-Bangladesh Joint Agricultural Working Group (JAWG) visited Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) in Gazipur yesterday. Additional Secretary of the Indian Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare (DAC&FW) and Co-chair of the JAWG Indian part Dolly Chakravorty led the delegation. The other members of the delegation included Director of  DAC&FW Prashant Armorikar; Director of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India Dr Amit Sharma and First Secretary (Head of Chancery) of the Indian High Commission in Dhaka Midhun TR were  present in the programme.

Director (Training & Communication) of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) Dr Md Miaruddin welcomed the delegation at the time of their arrival in the institute. BARI Director General Dr Abul Kalam Azad delivered  welcome address at his conference room. Chief Scientific Officer of the DG Office Dr. Dilwar Ahmed Choudhury briefed the delegation about the activities and achievements of BARI. BARI Director (Research) Dr Md Abdul Wohab, Director (Training & Communication) Dr Md Miaruddin, heads of the divisions, senior scientists, officers, among others,were present.

Later, the delegation visited Soil Science Lab, IPM and Toxicology Lab, Post-Harvest Processing Lab, Farm Machinery Lab and Hydroponic field and expressed their satisfaction by seeing the activities, advancement and achievements of BARI.
