Foreign worker falls down from coal yard , dies

A Chinese laborer was killed in Payra 1320 MW thermal power plant as he fell down from a coal yard in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali yesterday morning.

The deceased was identified as Kin Guilin, 40, resident of JIangsu province in China.

Assistant Manager of Payra Thermal Power Station Shah Moni Zico said,  “Kin Guilin was working at Coal Yard. He was seriously injured when he fell down about 80 feet from coal yard while wearing a safety belt. Other workers quickly rescued him. He was then taken to Patuakhali General Hospital. He was rushed to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital without being admitted to Patuakhali General Hospital due to severe condition. He died at around 12:30 pm on his way to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.”

The official at the Payra Thermal Power Station said that Kin Guilin's has been working as a laborer under the North East Electric Power Construction Company Limited (NEPC), a Chinese company that has been working for the thermal power plant since its beginning.
