Two workers electrocuted
UNB, Pirojpur
Two workers died from electrocution at Ekri village in Bhandaria upazila on Thursday morning. The deceased were identified as Alamin, 35, son of Harun Khan and Ibrahim Matubbar, 45, son of Keramat Matubbar.
Maksudur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Mothbaria Police Station, said the two workers came in contact with a live electric wire when they were cleaning water-hyacinth with a rod in a pond. Both of them died on the spot.
2 killed in Manikganj road crash
UNB, Manikganj
A woman and her daughter were killed as a pickup hit them at Nabogram in Shibalaya upazila on Wednesday night. The deceased could not be identified yet.
In-charge of Barangail highway police outpost Yamin Uddoula said the Dhaka-bound pickup crashed into the mother, aged around 35, and her daughter, 8, around 8:30pm, killing them on the spot. Police seized the vehicle but its driver and helper managed to flee, he said.
Mass awareness to control population growth stressed

Speakers at an advocacy meeting on “Family Planning Service And Preventing Child Marriage ” held here today underlined the need for raising massive awareness for controlling population growth and saying “no” to the child marriage.
“All of us should come forward with social movement through creating mass sawareness and all hurdles including superstitions and illiteracy must be stamped out with a view to controlling birth rate and preventing child marriage” the speakers said. Netrakona District Family Planning Department organised the meeting held at the conference room of Netrakona Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office in observance of the Family Welfare Service and Publicity Week-2019.
DC , Netrakona Main-UL-Islam addressed the meeting as chief guest while Deputy Director of The District Family Planning Department Mohammad Motiur Rahman presided over the advocacy meeting .
Mayor of Netrakona Municipality Nazrul Islam Khan, Additional Police Superintendent Faqruzzzaman Jewel, Freedom Fighter Abdur Rahim and General Secretary of Netrakona Press Club Shamolendu Paul , were among others, took part in it .
