Speakers at a human-chain programme here yesterday unequivocally called for forging social resistance and movement to end violence against women in the society for taking the nation forward successfully.
They viewed all of us should raise voice and work together to address the social crime collectively as only the government or any other single organisation cannot bring any positive result in this regard.
District Administration and Department of Women Affairs jointly organised the programme at Shaheed Minar premises adjacent to Collectorate Building to mark the observance of ‘International Women Repression Prevention Fortnight- 2019’. ‘Female-Male Parity can prevent violence against Women’ was the main theme of the programme.
Executives and members of around ten government and non-government entities and voluntary organizations joined the half an hour long programme from 9.30am.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Shariful Haque, Deputy Director of Department of Women Affairs Shabnam Shirin, Assistant Director of Human Resource Development Training Centre Ajgar Ali Khan, Headmaster of Riverview Collectorate School Begum Monwara Parveen, Local unit chairman of Jatiya Mohila Sanstha Morjina Parveen and Brac District Coordinator Jahedul Islam spoke on the occasion.
The speakers unanimously mentioned that overall national development could be possible through ensuring legitimate rights of all women, including the low-income and underprivileged ones.
They also viewed that building social awareness among the community people has become an urgent need for prevention of all sorts of violations and repression against women.
