Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) vice-president (VP) Nurul Haque Nur yesterday alleged that the student body is making decision without discussing him and Akhter Hossain, secretary of social service. He also alleged that the rest 23 elected members are from Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) panel, and they always appear in every meeting. The DUCSU VP came up with the allegations at a press conference immediately after another press conference where Ducsu Assistant General Secretary (AGS) Md Saddam Hussain alleged that Nur started lobbying to get a central executive post in BNP’s student wing Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal.
Terming the allegation against him as propaganda, Nur turned down Saddam's claim. “Saddam is not mentally fit and needs a psychiatrist,” said the DUCSU VP. Nur is also the Joint Convener of Bangladesh General Students' Rights Protection Council (BGSRPC) that led quota reform movement. He also announced to wage tougher movement from January 15 to ensure seats for the legal students in residential dormitories.
On Friday, DUCSU representatives, except VP Nur and Secretary of Social Service Akhter, met the body President and DU vice-chancellor Prof Akhtaruzzaman. During the meeting, they took decisions to run chargeable easy bike inside the DU campus.
