The supply of fuel oil has remained suspended in Rajshahi, Rangpur and Khulna divisions since yesterday morning as petrol pump owners and workers in the area are enforcing a strike. Sale and transportation of fuel from about 2,000 pumps in these divisions stopped at 6am, said Bangladesh Petrol Pump Owners’ Association Senior Vice-President MA Momin Dulal. The association on Nov 26 gave until Nov 30 to fulfill 15 demands, including payment of 7.5pc sales commission, introduction of accident insurance of Tk 5 lakh for tank lorry workers, and an end to police harassment. Power, Energy and Mineral Resources secretary called a meeting with the association’s leaders on December 15 which they have rejected, said Dulal.
