The IFIC Bank handed over research funds and scholarships to the teachers and students of Dhaka University at a programme held at the Syed Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban in the capital yesterday. The IFIC Bank authority established the largest trust fund of the bank in Dhaka University on November 19, 2012 to provide scholarships for meritorious students and teachers’ research grants as a part of their CSR contribution, which was eventually raised to Tk 10 million, says a press statement.
Md Akhtaruzzaman, vice-chancellor of Dhaka University, and Shah A Sarwar, managing director and CEO of IFIC Bank, handed over the checks of the research grant and scholarship to the respective students and teachers from different departments of the university. Ramendu Majumdar, chairman of the Department of Banking and Insurance, and Md Main Uddin, dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences, were also present along with others at the event.
