‘Nabanna Utsab’ celebrated

‘Nabanna Utsab’, a Bengali festival of harvesting new crops, was celebrated in Khulna on Wednesday amid festivity and fervour among the rural people. Celebration of this festival of bringing new crops home has been celebrated in this region for centuries and has become an integral part of the tradition and culture. Marking the festival, Department of Agriculture Expansion (DAE) and Agricultural Training Institute chalked out elaborate programmes that included bringing out colorful rally in the city, making and distributing cakes and rice pudding made of newly harvested rice.

Holy Fateha-e-Yajdaham, the birth celebration of Hazrath Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani (ra), will be observed on December 9 across the country. The date was finalized at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee in Islamic Foundation conference room in Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on Wednesday, said a press release. During the meeting, it was informed that the moon of Arabic month Rabius Sani of 1441 Hijri was not seen from anywhere in the country. For that reason, Rabius Sani month will be counted from today, 29th November, added the release.
