Missing boy found dead

UNB, Bagerhat

Police recovered the body of a mentally challenged boy from a water body at Paikpara in Fakirha tupazila on Monday, two days after he had gone missing.

The deceased was identified as Taskin, 10, son of Mohamamd Musa of the village.

ANM Khairu lAnam, officer-in-charge of Fakirhat Police Station, said Taskin went missing while playing at the courtyard on Saturday. Later, Taskin’s body was found floating in a waterbody near his house on Monday morning.

Father, daughter electrocuted

A farmer and his daughter were electrocuted at Dhopajangalia village in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh yesterday.

The deceased were identified as Arshadul Haque, 36, and his three-year-old daughter Jannatul Omi of Dhopajangalia village. Quoting local people as saying, officer-in-charge of Gouripur Police Station Md Kamrul Islam Miah said Arshadul with Omi in his lap went to switch on the irrigation pump near his house around 8.30am. When he was switching on the pump, they got electrocuted. They died on the spot.

Training on ‘linseed farming’ held

BSS, Jamalpur

A day-long training on “Linseed Cultivation was held at Jamalpur Regional Agriculture Research Station (RARS) yesterday.

Director, Oilseed Research Center, Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute, Dr Dil Afrosa Khanom formally inaugurated the training as chief guest. A total of 60 farmers of Jamalpur Sadar and Islampur Upazila of the district took part in the training held under the programme ‘Research and Development of Minor oil Crops” (Soyabean, sunflower and linseed)’, held at RARS conference room.
