Nabanna Utshab celebrated in Gaibandha

Nabanna Utshab, a festival of harvesting new crop, which is celebrated by the rural people of Bangladesh, celebrated here amid much festivity and enthusiasm to the people.

Marking the festival, district administration chalked out the elaborate programmes that included bringing out colorful rally in the district town, making home-made cake with rice flour at Independence Square here and its distribution to all and holding cultural function.

Besides, a competition on T-Aman paddy cutting was held at the land of one farmer M Golam Mostafa at Nashratpur area under Boali union of Sadar upazila.

Deputy commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin attended the function as the chief and superintendent of police (SP) Engineer Abdul Mannan Miah, civil surgeon Dr ABM Abu Hanif and general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Abu Bakar Siddique and upazila chairman Shah Sarwar Hossain were present at the event as the special guests while deputy director of DAE Krishibid Masudur Rahman presided over the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Abdul Matin said the Nabanna Utsab is celebrated all over the country where people of towns and cities also gather to join the village people to have the taste of rural atmosphere and know the Bengali culture and heritage.
