BR, CDA evict 65 shops in Ctg

Bangladesh Railway (BR) east zone and Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) in separate drives yesterday evicted 65 illegal structures from Gate No.2, Dewanhat and Phartali CDA market areas in Chittagong. BR east zone in an eviction drive from Gate No.2, Dewanhat areas evicted around 40 illegal structures, which were erected besides rail line illegally. The drive was led by Israt Reza, officer (Land) of BR east zone and Railway security force, Rapid Action Battalion and police to conduct the drive from 10am to 3pm. During the drive Israt Reza said “Some people were living erecting illegal structures besides rail tracks as per the direction of the general manager we evicted about 40 structures conducting the drive.” In another drive CDA evicted about 25 shops, from Pahartali CDA market’s Machinery Block, which was illegally erected. During the drive the mobile court, realized Tk 21,600 as compensation from 18 people and fined 12 people to Tk19,300, said CDA sources.
