The admission test for the first year honours courses under ‘A’ unit of Rajshahi University (RU) for the 2015-16 academic session was held yesterday. However, RU authorities have expelled three admission seekers for adopting unfair means in the admission test. Admission seekers of the ‘A’ unit having odd roll numbers took part in the test from 9am to 10am while those with having even roll numbers sit for the test from 11am to 12noon. Sources said this year a total of 1, 60,642 admission seekers appeared at the test against 4,148 seats under nine faculties and two institutes. Around 34 admission seekers will vie for a seat in the university admission tests. RU vice-chancellor Mizan Uddin visited examination halls. He said the authorities have banned use of any kind of electric devices, like calculator, headphone, and watch. He said during the admission tests, a mobile court will also work on the camps and to prevent any kind of unpleasant events the university authorities have taken various steps.
Abdullah Al Masum, assistant commissioner of police of Shahmukhdum police station, said additional police personnel have been deployed at several key points and temporary police boxes have also been set up at three spots of the campus.
Tariqul Hassan, proctor of the university, said only the university authorities set up several help desks at the various points of the campus with the supervision of the university proctor. However, all the political activities have been banned to maintain normalcy on the campus, he said. The admission tests will end on November 12.
