KHULNA: Reaffirming that there is no existence of Islamic State (IS) in the country, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) director general Benazir Ahmed yesterday said a vested quarter is carrying out a false campaign involving Bangladesh with the terrorist outfit, reports UNB. “There’s no organisational existence of IS in Bangladesh. Western countries, including the UK, Germany, France and the USA, didn’t said the IS has involvement with the recent incidents taken place in the country,” he said.
Addressing a press briefing at Khulna Circuit House, the Rab DG further said, “As part of a plot of a vested quarter, a false propaganda has been carrying out about IS’s existence in the country.” It cannot be proved that there is a presence of IS in Bangladesh by posting any information on the social media in the name of IS taking responsibly of any incident, he added. Of the two posts given on the social media in the name of IS recently claiming responsibility two incidents, one was posted from Tongi while another from Jatrabari. Benazir said IS has no enmity with Bangladesh government and its people. He said they are making their all-out efforts to track down those involved in murders of two foreigners, two cops and other recent untoward incidents. “We’ve already identified many of them.” The Rab boss said a quarter had created an anarchic situation in the country in 2013 which was successfully suppressed by law enforcers.
