Eid-e-Miladunnabi, the day of birth and demise of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), will be observed in the country today as the moon of Rabiul Awal was sighted in Bangladesh on November 29. The decision to observe the day with solemn fervor was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the Islamic Foundation's Baitul Mukarram office recently.

Joint Secretary to the Religious Affairs Ministry MA Hamid Jamaddar, Islamic Foundation Secretary Kazir Nurul Islam and Senior Pesh Imam of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Hafez Maulana Muhammad Mizanur Rahman were, among others, present in the meeting with Religious Affairs Secretary Anisur Rahman in the chair.

On this day in 570, the 12th of Rabiul Awal of the Hijri calendar, Muhammad (PBUH) was born in Makkah of Saudi Arabia with divine blessings and messages of peace for mankind. He also passed away on the same day in Medina city where he was buried.
