After days of student protests, acting Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) Kazi Shariful Alam has resigned.

A press release issued by the university announced the decision on Thursday evening.

They started demonstration for a nine-point charter of demand on Monday and continued the protests after the education ministry postponed the university’s convocation for operating without any VC, pro-VC and treasurer appointed by the president of the country.

Students were protesting against the acting VC’s alleged abuse of office. It’s alleged that he has been acting as pro-VC and treasurer and holding three other offices of the university as well.

Acting treasurer Prof Dr Md Amanullah will perform as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the university till appointment of new VC in the AUST.
