BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday voiced deep concern over the life of their party chairperson Khaleda Zia as what he said her condition is now very 'critical' and she might 'not recover'. "Our leader's (Khaleda's) condition is very critical... she has been facing life risk, and there's a possibility that she might not recover," he said. The BNP leader came up with the comments while talking to reporters after placing wreaths at party founder Ziaur Rahman's grave together with leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal, marking its 41st founding anniversary. Claiming that their chairperson was very fine when she went to jail, he said Khaleda is now so sick as she is unable to walk, rise from her bed and take food on her own. Fakhrul said Khaleda Zia's proper treatment is not possible at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) where she has been receiving treatment since April 1 last. "That's why we've been repeatedly saying she deserves to get bail. But the government has taken all measures so that she is not granted bail, and it's deliberately blocking her bail," he alleged.
