Members of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) yesterday conducted a drive in the house of film producer Aziz Mohammad Bhai. DNC assistant director Khurshed Alam confirmed this news. The law enforcers first raided a flat on the third-floor of a six-storey building and then the rooftop of another six-storey building owned by the businessman. They also seized huge amounts of foreign liquor, shisha and casino equipment. The raid started shortly before 5pm. The drive was continuing till the time of filing this report around 7:00 pm. Khurshed Alam said they arrested two persons in the raid. They are Nabin, 25, and Parvez, 30. He also said they found a mini-bar on the rooftop of one of the houses. However, Aziz Mohammad Bhai, who is also a well-known businessman, was not in the house. According to DNC officials, Aziz Mohammad Bhai’s house is divided into two parts. A casino and a liquor store was found in the house. The DNC officials also found foreign currency, which was supposedly used to play the casino.

In 1997, Aziz Mohammad Bhai was alleged to be involved in the alleged murder of the actor Salman Shah. Bhai denied the charges, but he was barred from entering India and his passport was impounded.
In 1999, Bhai was accused of involvement in the death of another actor, Sohel Chowdhury. In 1947, the family of Aziz Mohammad Bhai came to Bangladesh from Gujarat, India. In 1962, Aziz Mohammad Bhai was born in Armanitola of Old Dhaka. In 2007, he was charged for manufacturing yaba tablets. His nephew, Amyn Huda, was sent to prison in 2013 in connection with these crimes. Bhai was actively engaged in the management of a steel producer for more than three decades. He is a life member of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce. He is a director of Olympic Industries Limited and his father is the chairman of the company.
