While Bangladesh’s tour of India was confirmed following players’ withdrawal of strike, Bangladesh left-handed opener Tamim Iqbal could miss few parts of the ensuing India tour due to personal reasons. As per reports, Ayesha Siddiqa Iqbal, wife of Tamim Iqbal is to give birth to second child, is the main reason behind his temporary unavailability from the tour.
It was learnt that, Tamim’s wife had undergone some tests in Bangkok and Tamim is yet to receive the test results. In this circumstance, he wants to spend time with his wife in Bangkok. It is also believed that the left-arm opener is expected to join the team from the beginning of the series. However, he may change his course of action based on the test results.
In the meantime, BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury Sujan said, “We haven’t decided about Tamim’s unavailability or any replacement at the moment. Without formal decision, I can’t say anything about the matter.’’
