The International Day of Rural Women was celebrated in the district on Tuesday as elsewhere in the country and the globe in a befitting manner.

This year’s theme of the day was “Rural Women and Girls Building Climate Resilience”.

Marking the day, SKS Foundation, a non-government organization, chalked out the different programmes under Action for Socio-Economic Security and Rights for Excluded and Marginalized Women and Girls funded by Manusher Jonno Foundation, sources said.

In the morning, a rally led by Sadar UNO Uttam Kumar Roy was brought out from the Sadar upazila parishad premises and ended at the same venue after parading main roads of the district town.

Later, a discussion meeting on the significance of the day was also held at the hall room of the upazila parishad.

UNO Uttam Kumar Roy addressed the function as the chief guest and upazila health and family planning officer Dr. Abu Mohammad Al-Mamun, upazila youth development officer Nazmul Hasan and chairman of Boali union parishad A.M Mazed Uddin Khan were present at the event as the special guest.
