Detectives arrested a suspect over the murder of Italian citizen Cesare Tavella from Benapole border area yesterday night, reports UNB.
The arrested was identified as MA Matin, whose name appeared in the confessional statement of Kala Russel, who was arrested along with three others from different areas in the capital earlier on October 26 last in connection with the murder, according to a senior official of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
Matin is the younger brother of BNP leader and former ward commission Abdul Qaiyum. Based on the information gleaned from Kala Russel during the primary investigation, a team of the DB of police conducted the drive in Benapole border area and arrested Matin around 11:30pm as he was trying to leave the country, the official said. Italian national Cesare Tavella, 50, was shot to death by some miscreants in the city’s Gulshan area on September 28.
