Bangladesh Under-21 national hockey team began their five-match Test series with an impressive 5-1 victory over their Oman counterparts yesterday at the Maulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium in the capital.
As a part of the AHF Cup Hockey Championship Bangladesh Hockey Federation organized the Test series against Oman and made a flying start when the host led the first half by 3-0 and scored two more goals in the second half, while the visitors could reduce one goal.
Captain Ashtabula Islam opened the scoring in the very third minute with converting a penalty corner as Arched Hossain doubled the lead four minutes later scoring on 7th minute (2-0).
Bangladesh, who played the match with almost full control, scored the third one with Sholapur Raman Sebum hit the board on 17th minute (3-0).
Nayeem Udine enlarged the margin on 34th minute when the Oman team could halt the hosts for 17 minutes to make the tally (4-0).
Oman scored their consolation on 35th minute through Rashid Al-Fazari (1-4).
Mahbub Hossain sealed the victory for Bangladesh on 40th minute when and left the ground with 5-1 win.
The second match will take place today at the same ground at 6pm.
