Police arrested three youths on charge of their alleged involvement in gang culture and social crimes from Puthia upazilla of the district yesterday.

The arrestees have been identified as Rakibul Islam Rocky, 18, son of Ayub Ali of Palopara village, Aminul Islam Tanmoy, 18, son of Sohrab Hossain of Baroipara village and Hasibul Hasan, 18, son of Sherajul Islam of Sarderpara village both of under Puthia upazilla in Rajshahi.

ASP Ifte Khayer Alam, spoke person of Rajshahi Zilla Police, on Saturday said, local youths Shamim Reza, Nibir Mondol, Sudip Kuman along with some friends were gossiping on a culvert beside Rajshahi-Dhaka highway in Krishnapur area under Puthia police station.

However; the accused three went there and repeatedly beat up Shamim and his friends and forced them to get an abandoned house. There, they captured some nude videos of Shamim with a girl and demanded Tk 20,000.

They threatened Shamim that If he does not pay the money, they will viral the video on social media.  

However; Shamim technically have able to flee from the house and rushed to police station and disclosed the matter. Based on Shamim’s complaint, Puthia thana police conducted an operation and arrested the accused. After primary investigation, they confessed to their involvement in such type of crimes for a long. Based on their information police will try to arrest the others culprits, Ifte Khayer Alam said.
